Employees from Airbus Defence & Space visited Afvalzorg at one of our landfill sites in the Netherlands. Airbus Defence & Space carries out methane concentration measurements in the atmosphere from an altitude of 800 km, using the TROPOMI satellite as part of the European Earth observation programme Copernicus. These measurements make it clear that landfills are a major source of methane emissions on Earth.
Insight into landfill gas project
Airbus DS staff were very keen to find out what could be done in practice about these methane emissions. At our landfill site, we provided insight into aspects of landfill gas project development. They visited the landfill site, where they could see landfill gas recovery ‘in action’.
Methane emission reduction
Methane emission reduction is relatively simple to achieve and highly effective in combating climate change.
